Agent DVR pricing, the Agent DVR subscription and the license a business needs

Agent DVR is free only for private, local use at home. Any business use needs a subscription, priced per server, not per camera: Basic $7.95, Standard $14.95 or Professional $19.95 a month. Prepaying a year saves 10%, two years 15%, three years 20%, and any annual plan adds a perpetual local license you keep after it ends.

Every paid plan is licensed for business use, includes unlimited cameras, Agent DVR's own real time AI with local training, remote access through the iSpyConnect relay, the mobile apps, push notifications, email, cloud upload and software updates. The differences between the three tiers are narrower than the price gap suggests.

Standard adds HD playback and RTMP streaming. Professional adds playback up to 4K, unlimited local user accounts (Basic and Standard unlock two) and the right to rebrand Agent DVR. For a shop with one manager checking footage, Basic covers it. For an office where four people log in, you are on Professional.

The price is per server, so a business with three locations and a recording computer in each pays three times. A single server is the cheapest way to cover many cameras, which is the opposite of how most cloud camera services charge.

02 The Agent DVR license

When a business needs an Agent DVR license, and what the perpetual one covers.

Network video recorder and switch on a back office shelf, with camera views of a parking lot on a laptop
Agent DVR runs on a computer you supply at each site, and the subscription is counted per computer.

The iSpyConnect terms are plain about it. The free license is for personal, non commercial, local use, such as a homeowner watching their own house. Any use in a business, commercial or institutional setting, including schools and government bodies, requires a commercial license, and iSpyConnect says it offers no discounted or institutional pricing.

Pay for a year or more up front and you also get a perpetual local license. It keeps every feature of your tier working on that server after the subscription ends, except the services that run on iSpyConnect's infrastructure: the mobile apps and remote access through their relay. Without an active subscription, remote viewing means port forwarding or a VPN, which the terms only allow with a purchased license.

Two rules catch buyers out. An annual plan cannot be cancelled, downgraded or reduced in seats until its anniversary. And direct support through the website is only for accounts with an active subscription; perpetual licenses and free installs get documentation, GitHub and the community forum.

03 What it costs over five years

Agent DVR cost for one site and for three, prepaid or monthly.

Subscription cost only. The computer, drives and cameras are yours to buy in every case.

One site, Standard, annual

$807

$161.46 a year for five years. HD playback, two local users, any number of cameras on that one computer.

One site, Professional, prepaid

$982

A 3 year term at $574.56, then a 2 year term at $406.98. Unlimited users and 4K playback.

Three sites, Standard, annual

$2,422

Three computers, so three subscriptions at $161.46 a year each.

Monthly billing costs more over the same period: Standard is $897 over five years paid monthly against $807 paid yearly, and monthly plans never earn the perpetual local license. If you know the system will stay, the annual plan is the better buy on both counts.

Buy Agent DVR if

you are choosing a recorder, or replacing one, and somebody on the team is happy to keep a Windows, Linux or Mac machine patched at each site. For that buyer Agent DVR is far cheaper than we are, and we would rather say so than have you find out after a trial.

Use a detection layer if

the cameras already record to an NVR or a licensed VMS that works, and the only problem is alerts that fire on headlights and rain. Then a second recorder means a second archive and a second box to look after. We read the sub stream, label each event and send only the classes you asked for, at a published price by camera tier.

05 How it works beside your recorder

Person alerts on the cameras you have, without another server.

01

Connect

Give it each camera's RTSP address, or let it find them over ONVIF. It reads the low resolution sub stream while your recorder keeps the main stream.

02

Detect

A background model finds regions that really moved and groups them into events. Sensor noise and the IR switch at dusk are dropped first.

03

Classify

A few crops from each event are labeled person, vehicle, animal, package or other motion, with a confidence value. Continuous video stays on your network.

04

Alert

Only events in a class you picked, outside your exclude zones and longer than your minimum, reach you by email, Slack or webhook.

If you are comparing self hosted recorders, the Blue Iris license cost post shows what a business pays for Blue Iris, where commercial use sits on a $39.95 a month plan, and the SecuritySpy price post does the same for Mac sites. For cameras that already record somewhere, the RTSP camera software page lists stream paths by brand, and the person detection camera software page covers the alert side in more depth.

06 Where we lose

Four things Agent DVR does that this product does not.

  • Recording

Agent DVR is a full recorder with playback and export. We keep events and their crops, not footage, so we never replace your NVR.

  • Price per camera

Unlimited cameras on one server for $161.46 a year is a price no hosted detection service matches, us included.

  • License plates and AI assistants

Agent DVR reads plates through partner engines and talks to Claude or ChatGPT through its MCP server. We classify people, vehicles, animals and packages and identify no one.

  • Keeps working if you stop paying

An annual plan leaves a perpetual local license behind. Our console stops when the subscription ends.

07 What buyers ask before paying

Agent DVR pricing and license questions.

01

Is Agent DVR free for business use?

No. Agent DVR is free only for personal, non commercial, local use, such as a homeowner watching their own house. iSpyConnect's terms say any business, commercial or institutional use needs a commercial license, which means a paid subscription from $7.95 a month per server.

02

How much is an Agent DVR subscription?

Basic is $7.95, Standard $14.95 and Professional $19.95 a month for each server running Agent DVR, with unlimited cameras. Paying a year ahead saves 10%, two years 15% and three years 20%, so Standard costs $161.46 a year or $430.56 for three years.

03

Does Agent DVR charge per camera?

No. Every plan includes unlimited cameras and the price is per server, meaning per computer running Agent DVR. The practical camera limit is the processor, graphics card, memory and network of that computer. A business with three locations and a computer at each pays for three servers.

04

What is the Agent DVR perpetual license?

It is a local license included with any annual or longer prepaid plan. You keep it after the subscription ends, and it keeps your tier's features working on that server, except services that run on iSpyConnect's infrastructure, such as the mobile apps and remote access through their relay.

05

Can I cancel an Agent DVR annual subscription?

Not before its anniversary. Under iSpyConnect's terms an annual plan cannot be cancelled, downgraded or reduced in seats until the year ends, except where the law requires a prorated refund. Monthly plans can be cancelled up to three business days before renewal.

06

Which Agent DVR plan does a business need?

Basic covers business use for one or two people checking footage. Standard adds HD playback and RTMP streaming. Professional is the plan for offices with more than two local users, 4K playback, rebranding, or for installers running Agent DVR as a hosted service, which requires Professional on every instance.

07

Is there a cheaper way to get person alerts if I already have an NVR?

If you would otherwise add a computer at each site just for Agent DVR's AI, compare that with classifying the cameras you already record. MotionDetection reads the RTSP sub stream and alerts by class from $49 a month for four cameras, or $888 a year for fifteen across up to three sites.

Keep your recorder. Fix the alerts.

One field, one 6 digit code, and your console opens on that address. Pick the tier by camera count and pay by card, with no quote to wait for.
