A CompleteView quote has four lines, and only one of them is the camera license.
Salient licenses CompleteView per camera on each recording server. The edition sets the price per camera; the rest of the quote is maintenance, the server and any analytics.
Camera licenses
One per IP camera
One license per video device. A multi sensor camera or a multichannel encoder takes one license, and the license is not tied to a camera, so you can swap one out.
Edition
One, Professional, Enterprise
The three editions named in the v8.0 guide. Older material puts One at up to 32 cameras per server and reserves Active Directory for Enterprise.
Maintenance
SMA, 1, 3 or 5 years
Distributors list Software Maintenance Agreement SKUs per camera for 1, 3 and 5 years. Moving from 7.7 to 8.0 takes a Feature Key, which is where the SMA matters.
Server and analytics
Quoted separately
Your own Windows server or a Salient PowerProtect or Vantage appliance, plus Vaidio AI or a partner for person and vehicle detection. No public prices for either.
Every CompleteView price point we could find, with its source and its age.
Salient's distributor pages hide prices behind a dealer login, and the large US storefronts do not list CompleteView. These are the numbers that exist in public.

Read the table as a bracket, not a price list. The 2013 list predates the CompleteView 20/20 branding that still appears in the distributor SKU names, and the overview figures are older than the current version. The single 2026 retail figure is for one Enterprise camera license at a store that blocks automated access, so we could not open the listing to confirm it.
What the numbers do tell you: Professional and Enterprise sit within about $50 of each other per camera, and One costs well under half of either. If an integrator quotes Enterprise for a single server with no Active Directory requirement, ask what you lose on Professional.

Whether the 8.0 Feature Key is included.
Salient lists no trial length and no lapse policy in public. Get both in writing before you sign.
The license file lives on one recording server, and a Feature Key changes it.

Salient's license agreement allows a permanent transfer of the software, and a 90 day software warranty applies. It does not say on its site whether a lapsed maintenance agreement blocks the next Feature Key, so treat the 8.0 upgrade as the moment the SMA question gets expensive. On Salient appliances the license is pre applied at the factory.
If you are on CompleteView 5 or 6, the price question is really an upgrade question.
From Salient's 2026 lifecycle brochure. Version 8.0 shipped in June 2026 and is the one Salient now sells.
Active
Current release, Enhanced Search for people and vehicles on Profile M cameras.
Mature
Supported, but 7.7 to 8.0 is a major version step that needs a Feature Key.
Limited availability
Still on site in many buildings, heading toward retirement.
Retired
End of maintenance took effect November 7, 2022.
Limited availability
As listed in the brochure. Plan the move with v5 sites.
Salient is privately held and based in Austin, Texas, with no change of ownership on record, which makes it one of the steadier vendors in this list. Compare that with Qognify, renamed twice in three years; our Qognify VMS license price page covers it. Senstar, the other integrator sold platform buyers weigh against it, is priced on the Senstar Symphony license price page.

The license rows multiply the table above by fifteen, so they are only as good as those price points. The rows do not buy the same thing either. CompleteView records and stores video; we do not. Our row belongs here for one buyer: a site whose CompleteView server records fine, whose motion alerts are noise, and who was about to pay for an analytics add on to fix that. Per camera totals for other platforms are on the exacqVision license price, Milestone Husky price and DW Spectrum license price pages.
Person and vehicle alerts on CompleteView come from the camera, Vaidio, or a layer on the stream.
Enhanced Search
New in v8.0 on every edition. It searches people by clothing color and bags and vehicles by type and color, using metadata from ONVIF Profile M cameras. Older or non Profile M cameras get nothing from it.
Vaidio AI
Sold by Salient: 35 plus analytics including LPR, faces, weapons and smoke on any camera. Priced by quote, on its own server.
A detection layer
Reads the sub stream CompleteView already pulls from each camera, classifies events as person, vehicle, animal or package and alerts by email, webhook or Slack. Nothing on the recording server changes.
The RTSP camera software page explains stream URLs and sub streams, and person detection camera software shows the alerts on cameras you already own. You can run a clip from one of your cameras through the demo at the top of this page first, without an account.
Four things CompleteView does that this product does not.
-
It records and stores
Weeks of full resolution video on your own drives. We keep events and their crops, not continuous video.
-
It works without internet
Recording, playback and the clients run on site. Our classification runs as a service, so the site needs an outbound connection.
-
Free clients, unlimited
Any number of desktop, web and mobile clients at no extra charge. Our tiers include a set number of users.
-

Salient CompleteView questions that come up while you are pricing it.
01
How much does a Salient CompleteView license cost?
Salient does not publish prices and sells through certified integrators. The public price points are $75 (One), $200 (Professional) and $250 (Enterprise) per camera on a 2013 Salient list, $125, $225 and $250 in an older independent overview, and $206.53 for one Enterprise camera license at a retailer in 2026. Maintenance and the server are extra.
02
How is CompleteView licensed?
Per IP camera, on each recording server. The license file is tied to that server's Product ID and lists the camera count, edition and version. A multi sensor camera or a multichannel encoder takes one license, and licenses are not tied to a particular camera.
03
What are the CompleteView editions?
One, Professional and Enterprise, as named in the v8.0 Quick Start Guide. Older material puts One at up to 32 cameras per server, Professional at unlimited cameras and servers, and Enterprise adding Active Directory and enterprise features. Salient publishes no current comparison table.
04
What is a CompleteView Feature Key?
An alphanumeric key from Salient sales that changes a server's license: adding cameras, moving cameras to another server, upgrading the edition, adding options or moving to a new major version such as 7.7 to 8.0. Minor updates such as 7.7.0 to 7.7.1 need no key.
05
Do CompleteView clients need a license?
No. Salient states there is no additional charge or license for clients and no limit on their number, covering the desktop client, the web client in a browser and the native iOS and Android apps.
06
Is CompleteView 5 still supported?
No. Salient ended maintenance for CompleteView 5.x on November 7, 2022, and its 2026 lifecycle brochure lists v5 as retired, v6 as limited availability, v7 as mature and v8 as active. Moving to v8 takes a Feature Key for the major version.
07
Does CompleteView have person and vehicle detection?
CompleteView 8.0 adds Enhanced Search for people and vehicles by appearance, using metadata from ONVIF Profile M cameras. On other cameras the options are Vaidio AI, sold by Salient and quoted separately, or a detection layer such as MotionDetection on the streams CompleteView already records.
