Angelcam alternative for business cameras, with Angelcam pricing and cost compared

The right Angelcam alternative depends on what you pay Angelcam for. If it is remote viewing and cloud recording, Camcloud, Arcules and Eagle Eye Networks are the like for like options. If your recorder already keeps the footage and the real problem is alerts that fire on rain and headlights, you need classification on the stream, not another cloud account. Angelcam charges $4 to $99 a month for the platform plus $6.99 to $29.99 a camera a month for recording.

01 The short answer

Angelcam is three products on one bill. Know which one you are replacing.

Most business accounts use one of them heavily, one lightly, and wish the third worked better.

Remote viewing

The platform plan: live video from any camera, on any device

Angelcam connects more than 200 camera brands through its AngelBox, its open source connector or plain RTSP, and shows them in one app and on a video wall. The plan you pay for sets how many cameras, locations and users you get. At $39 a month billed yearly for 25 cameras, this part is cheap and hard to beat.

Cloud recording

A per camera add-on priced by retention

Recording is not in the plan. Each camera that records to the cloud is a separate add-on, from 3 days to 60 days of retention, and longer on request. This is where an Angelcam bill grows, because the add-on is charged camera by camera on top of the platform fee.

Knowing what moved

Person and vehicle alerts instead of every pixel change

Angelcam sells AI detection through its Real-Time Security offering and custom plans, with an AngelCamera RTS device at $119 and no published service price. If your NVR already records and your complaint is the alerts, this is the only part you need, and it runs on the RTSP stream you already have.

02 Angelcam pricing

Angelcam publishes a platform plan and then a price per recording camera.

The structure matters more than any single number. The platform fee is small and flat. Recording is charged per camera, so a business that records everything pays the add-on fifteen or forty times over. Angelcam lets you choose a different retention plan for each camera, which helps: a lobby camera on 3 days and a loading dock on 30 costs less than both on 30. Public broadcasting and timelapse are separate add-ons.

Angelcam cost, 15 cameras, published rates

Professional plan plus 30 day recording on every camera: $468 + 15 x $159.99 = about $2,868 a year.

Professional plan plus 7 day recording: $468 + 15 x $104.99 = about $2,043 a year.

Professional plan, live view only: $468 a year.

Before any AI detection, which Angelcam quotes through Real-Time Security or a custom plan.

03 Angelcam alternatives, side by side

Five products that work with the business cameras you already own.

Every row accepts third party IP cameras, which is why anyone chose Angelcam. They differ on where the video lives, how AI detection is sold, and whether a price exists before a call.

Read the second column first. Three of these replace Angelcam like for like, storage included. We store no video, so we only replace Angelcam at a site that already records on an NVR or a VMS. The Arcules numbers come from our breakdown of Arcules pricing per camera channel and gateway, and the Camcloud figures from our page on the Camcloud alternative and Camcloud pricing. For recording platforms you install yourself, the video management software comparison covers Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon and Nx Witness on the same terms. Ivideon sells the same remote viewing and cloud recording as a yearly license per camera, set out on our Ivideon alternative and Ivideon pricing page.

04 Why people look for an alternative

Three reasons an Angelcam account ends up in a comparison, and how much each one matters.

01

The recording line grows with every camera

The $39 plan is what people remember. The bill is the plan plus one recording add-on per camera, so fifteen cameras on 30 day retention is about $2,400 a year of add-ons on top of $468. A site that already owns an NVR is paying to store the same footage twice.

Matters most at sites with a working recorder and more than ten cameras.

02

The AI has no price on the page

Person and vehicle detection, false alarm filtering and loitering warnings are real Angelcam features, sold through Real-Time Security with its own $119 camera or through custom plans. The service price is not published, so a budget with AI in it needs a sales conversation first.

Matters most when procurement wants a number this week.

03

Every recording camera is always uploading

Cloud recording sends video out of the building for as long as the camera records. Angelcam places no cap on resolution, which is good for evidence and hard on a business cable line where upstream is the scarce direction.

Matters most on cable or fixed wireless rather than fiber.

Where Angelcam is genuinely the right answer

A business with cameras spread over several locations and no recorder worth trusting is well served by Angelcam. The platform fee is low, it takes almost any camera, it embeds a public stream on a website, and it hands incidents to a monitoring station or the police when you want that. Developers and integrators get an API and white label options that nothing on this page matches. Nobody in that position should swap it for a detection tool that stores nothing. This page is for the other buyer: an NVR full of footage and an inbox full of alerts about spiders.

05 How the detection half works here

Classification on the stream you already record, with no new camera and no cloud archive.

01

Connect

Give it the RTSP URL your recorder already uses, or let it find the camera over ONVIF. It reads the low resolution sub stream, so the NVR keeps the main stream and nothing on the camera changes.

02

Detect

Our own background model finds regions that really moved and joins them into events. Sensor noise, compression shimmer and single frame flicker are removed before anything is classified.

03

Classify

Crops from each event are labelled person, vehicle, animal, package or other motion, with a confidence value. Continuous video never leaves your network.

04

Alert

Only events outside your exclude zones, longer than your minimum duration and in a class you chose reach you, by email, webhook or Slack.

For a site coming from Angelcam, two things change. Upload drops to event crops rather than continuous video. And the camera you already own does the job, because detection does not depend on a new device or on the camera's own motion trigger. The RTSP camera software page covers stream URLs, sub streams and codecs, and person detection camera software covers the one class most businesses actually need alerts for.

06 Fifteen cameras, five years

What the same fifteen camera business costs, and what each number buys.

Published rates only, yearly billing, no hardware and no installation labor. The rows do not buy the same thing, and the last column says so.

Angelcam Professional, live view only

Angelcam Professional, 7 day recording

Five years

What it includes
Classified alerts on 15 cameras, 30 day event history, 5 users, 3 sites, webhook and Slack. No video storage.

The honest reading: if remote viewing is all you use, Angelcam's live view plan is cheaper than we are and we will not pretend otherwise. If you record to Angelcam's cloud while an NVR in the back office records the same cameras, and you were about to ask for an AI quote to fix the alerts, the bottom row is the whole cost of that fix, published, with no footage paid for twice. The video analytics software price page lists every tier and the per camera arithmetic.

07 Where we lose

Four things Angelcam does that this product does not.

  • No live view or video wall

Angelcam shows every camera live in its apps and on a video wall across locations. Here you get the event list and the crops, and you open the footage in the recorder you already have.

  • No cloud recording

We keep events and their crops, not continuous video. If the only copy of your footage sits on an NVR in the building, a stolen NVR takes it with it, and Angelcam's cloud archive protects against exactly that.

  • No public broadcasting

Angelcam can put a live stream on a website or run a timelapse of a construction site. We do not publish video anywhere.

  • No audio deterrence or monitoring station

Angelcam's Real-Time Security can play a warning over a speaker and pass an incident to a central station. We send alerts to your people, your webhook or your Slack.

08 What buyers ask at this point

Angelcam questions that come up while you are comparing.

01

How much does Angelcam cost?

Angelcam charges a platform plan and a per camera recording add-on. Billed yearly, the plans are $4 a month for 10 cameras, $39 for 25, $99 for 100 and from $249 for unlimited. Cloud recording is extra per camera: $6.99 a month for 3 days, $10.49 for 7, $15.99 for 30 and $29.99 for 60 days of retention.

02

What is the best Angelcam alternative for a business?

It depends on which part you are replacing. For cloud recording like for like, Camcloud publishes a lower per camera rate and Arcules suits a multi site business buying through a Milestone partner. If an NVR already records and the alerts are the problem, a detection layer such as MotionDetection costs less and stores nothing twice.

03

Does Angelcam have AI detection?

Yes. Angelcam sells person and vehicle detection, AI false alarm filtering and loitering warnings through its Real-Time Security offering, which uses an AngelCamera RTS device priced at $119, and offers face and license plate recognition through custom plans. Angelcam does not publish a service price for the AI, so it is quoted.

04

Does Angelcam work with any IP camera?

Angelcam says it connects more than 200 camera brands, including Axis, Dahua, Hikvision, Lorex, Uniview and Vivotek. Cameras connect through the AngelBox plug and play device, Angelcam's open source connector software or RTSP. Check its compatibility list before you buy, because older DVRs and some consumer cameras connect only partly.

05

Is Angelcam cloud recording included in the plan?

No. The Essentials, Professional, Business and Flex plans cover live viewing, users and locations. Cloud recording is an add-on bought per camera and priced by retention, so a fifteen camera business on 30 day retention pays about $2,400 a year in recording add-ons on top of the plan. You can set a different retention on each camera.

06

Can I keep my NVR and still get person alerts without Angelcam?

Yes. A detection layer reads the RTSP sub stream the NVR already pulls, classifies each real motion event as a person, vehicle, animal or package, and alerts only on the classes you pick. The NVR keeps recording. MotionDetection works this way from $49 a month for four cameras, with no new camera and no cloud archive.

Keep the recorder. Fix the alerts.

One field, one 6 digit code, and your console opens on that address. Pick the tier by camera count and pay by card, with no quote to wait for.
