Arcules, Milestone's cloud video service, costs about $9.95 to $81 per camera per month at US resellers, depending on where the video is stored, the camera resolution and how many days you keep. The common business choice, a 1080p camera with 30 days of cloud storage, lists at $22.80 a camera a month. On top of that you buy at least one Husky gateway, from $1,995 once, and you prepay the subscription for 12 or 36 months.
Arcules does not publish a price list to end users. It sells only through Authorized, Advanced and Premier Milestone partners, so every figure here is a named US reseller listing, and the rules come from Milestone's own Arcules product offering document and the Arcules knowledge base. We sell detection, not recording, and the last two sections explain where that matters for an Arcules site.
Arcules price per camera channel
Arcules licenses every camera as a monthly channel subscription. There are three families. Cloud storage channels send video to the Arcules cloud and are priced by resolution and retention. Edge storage channels keep the video on the gateway in your building at any resolution, frame rate and retention the disk allows. Camera to Cloud channels skip the gateway entirely on supported Axis and i-PRO cameras. These are the single month prices at Network Camera Store, which lists the full range.

The column to watch is resolution. Most people price a 4MP camera at the 1080p rate and find out at the quote. A 4MP camera on 30 days is $29.40 a month, 29 percent more than the same camera at 1080p, and a 4K camera on 30 days is $58.05, more than two and a half times as much. Arcules bills by the resolution the camera streams, so turning a 4MP camera down to 1080p is a legitimate way to cut the bill if the image still does the job.
Next to the other per camera cloud services the range makes sense. The Angelcam cloud recording add-on is $15.99 a camera a month for 30 days on top of a platform plan, and Camcloud's published plans run $6 to $15 a camera a month. Arcules costs more per camera at the same retention and adds a gateway, and what it gives back is Milestone behind it, a partner who installs it, and people and vehicle detection on the cloud channels without a quoted AI line.
The Husky gateway you have to buy
Every cloud storage and edge storage channel needs at least one gateway on site, a Milestone Husky GW unit that pulls the camera streams and either buffers them for upload or stores them locally. Gateways are a one time purchase with a five year warranty and they cannot be returned once the partner orders them from Milestone. Cloud storage channels work only with cloud storage gateways, and edge storage channels only with edge storage gateways, so the choice of channel family is also a choice of box. If you are weighing a gateway against an on premise Husky IVO recorder running XProtect, the Milestone Husky price page totals that route for fifteen cameras.

For a single building under thirty cameras, one desktop gateway is enough, and it is the only hardware line on the quote. Multi site businesses buy one per site, which is the part of Arcules that scales badly for many small locations: ten shops with four cameras each is ten gateways at roughly $2,000 each before a single channel is billed. Camera to Cloud exists for exactly that case, if the cameras are recent Axis ARTPEC-8 or supported i-PRO models.
Terms, prepayment and the fine print
Milestone's offering document sets out the rules a quote will follow. The ones that change the budget:
- Prepaid terms. Arcules is sold for a 12 month or a 36 month service term, paid up front. A 1080p, 30 day channel is therefore $273.60 per camera on day one for a year, or $820.80 for three.
- Cloud channels record on motion. The cloud storage SKUs run up to 12 frames per second, record on motion only and assume at most 30 percent recording time. Continuous recording is the $10 a month MKTCCR add-on per camera.
- Add-ons need a cloud channel. Continuous recording and cloud analytics are available only on cameras with a cloud storage channel, not on edge storage channels.
- A gateway first. All cloud and edge channel subscriptions require at least one gateway, and add-on services need a gateway plus a subscription.
- Partner only. You buy through a Milestone partner, so the partner's labor, margin and renewal handling are part of the real price even when the SKU cost matches a web listing.
Which channels get person and vehicle detection
This is the question that decides the right SKU, and the answer is in the Arcules knowledge base rather than on the price list. People in region, vehicles in region, line crossing, people counts, heat maps and forensic search by person or vehicle with color filters all run as cloud analytics, and cloud analytics need a cloud storage channel with object detection switched on per camera.
Edge storage channels get motion and area of interest search only. Arcules states that cloud based video analytics are not available for cameras on an edge storage gateway. Camera to Cloud channels take their detection from the camera itself, through AXIS Object Analytics, which is why only recent Axis and i-PRO models qualify. So the cheapest channel, the $9.95 edge channel, is also the one with no person or vehicle detection, and moving a camera to a channel that has it costs $19.20 to $81 a month instead.
What fifteen cameras cost over five years
One building, fifteen cameras, US reseller single month prices multiplied out, one desktop gateway, no cameras and no installation labor. The rows do not buy the same thing, and the last column says so.

Read it honestly. Arcules is a full video platform with storage, remote access and a large vendor behind it, and nothing on this site records video. If you need cloud storage that survives a stolen recorder, the middle rows are the fair comparison and our row is not. The bottom row is here because of the next section.
When an Arcules channel is the wrong purchase
The site that ends up pricing Arcules upgrades is usually an edge storage site. It chose the $9.95 channel because the recording was the point, and a year later the complaint is that alerts fire on headlights, rain and moving shadows, because motion detection is all an edge channel has. The upgrade on the price list is moving each camera to a cloud storage channel: from $119.40 to at least $273.60 a camera a year for 1080p, a different gateway, and every camera's video now uploading from the building.
The alternative is classification on the stream the gateway already reads. Our software connects to the camera over RTSP or ONVIF alongside the gateway, uses the low resolution sub stream, finds real motion with its own background model, labels each event person, vehicle, animal or package, and sends only the classes you chose by email, webhook or Slack. The Arcules edge channel keeps recording, the gateway stays, and the price is on the video analytics software price page. For a fifteen camera edge site, that is $888 a year for detection instead of roughly $2,313 a year more in channel upgrades plus a gateway swap.
Arcules sites are usually multi site operations, and the gateways, cameras and channel SKUs end up scattered across locations and purchase orders. Keeping them in one inventory of hardware and renewals by location is what stops a channel renewal being paid for a camera that was pulled out last spring. If you are choosing a recording platform rather than adding to Arcules, the video management software comparison sets Milestone XProtect, Genetec, Avigilon, Eagle Eye and Nx Witness side by side on license model, and the Axis Camera Station license cost page covers the on premises route for Axis camera owners.
Questions buyers ask
How much does Arcules cost per camera?
At US resellers, an Arcules camera channel costs $9.95 a month for edge storage or Camera to Cloud, $19.20 to $34.80 for 1080p cloud storage from 14 to 90 days, $25.20 to $49.20 for 4MP and 5MP, and $58.05 to $81 for 4K. A 1080p camera with 30 days of cloud storage is $22.80 a month, or $273.60 a year.
Does Arcules require a gateway?
Yes, for cloud storage and edge storage channels. Every such subscription needs at least one Milestone Husky GW gateway on site, from $1,995 for the HGWD-2TB desktop unit, which handles up to 35 channels. The exception is Camera to Cloud, where supported Axis ARTPEC-8 and i-PRO cameras connect directly to Arcules with no gateway.
Is Arcules a monthly subscription?
Arcules channels are priced per month but sold in 12 month or 36 month service terms paid up front, through a Milestone partner. You cannot buy a single month and cancel. Gateways are a separate one time purchase that does not follow the subscription rules and carries a five year warranty.
Does Arcules include video analytics?
On cloud storage channels, yes: people and vehicle detection in regions, line crossing, people counts, heat maps and forensic search, with object detection enabled per camera. Edge storage channels get motion and area of interest search only. Camera to Cloud channels use the analytics built into the Axis or i-PRO camera.
Is Arcules part of Milestone?
Yes. Arcules is sold as Milestone's cloud video service, alongside the on premises XProtect platform and the Husky recorder range, and Milestone is part of the Canon Group. The channel SKUs carry Milestone part numbers, and ordering runs through Milestone partners under the Arcules channel partner policy.
Does Arcules or Milestone XProtect cost less?
Over five years, XProtect usually costs less per camera for a single large site, because its device licenses are bought once with an optional yearly care plan, while Arcules charges every camera every month. Arcules tends to win for businesses with many small sites and no IT staff, where it removes servers and patching. Compare the five year totals, not the first year.
