The published rates are for Camcloud's self service plans, which record on motion. A business that wants every hour on disk, several logins and a longer retention window lands on a quoted business plan, and the AI labels are a second quoted line on top of it. That is a reasonable way to sell to a large site. It also means the real number for a 15 camera business with AI alerts only exists after a sales conversation.

Three reasons a Camcloud account ends up in a comparison, and how much each one matters.

The AI only sees what the camera flags

Camcloud documents that Cloud AI analyses the motion events your camera detects, and tells you to tune the camera's motion settings to keep those events manageable. So a camera that fires on headlights sends headlights to be labelled, and a camera tuned too tight to stop that can miss the person entirely. Cloud AI is also rate limited to 5,000 events a day per camera.

Matters most on outdoor cameras, parking lots and anything facing a road.

Every camera is always uploading

Cloud recording means video leaves your building continuously. Camcloud's own guidance is to budget about 1 Mbps of upload per camera, so fifteen cameras want roughly 15 Mbps of sustained upstream, and on most business cable connections upload is the scarce direction.

Matters most at sites on cable or fixed wireless rather than fiber.

The business number needs a call

The self service rates are public. Continuous recording, multi user business plans and the AI add-on are all quoted. If you are building a budget request with fifteen cameras and a deadline, two quoted lines are two unknowns.

Where Camcloud is genuinely the right answer

A small site with a few cameras and no recorder at all, where an off site copy of the footage is the whole point, is well served by Camcloud, and $6 to $15 a camera a month for storage is a fair published rate. It supports plug and play setup for Axis, Hanwha, Hikvision, Amcrest, Milesight, Speco and Vivotek, plus generic RTSP and ONVIF cameras. Nobody in that position should replace it with a detection tool that stores nothing. This page is for the other buyer: the one who already has an NVR full of footage and an inbox full of alerts about rain.

Give it an RTSP URL or let it find the camera over ONVIF. It reads the low resolution sub stream, so the recorder keeps the main stream and nothing on the camera changes.

Detect

Our own background model finds regions that really moved and joins them into events. Sensor noise and single frame flicker are removed before anything is classified.

Classify

Two or three crops from each event are labelled person, vehicle, animal, package or other motion, with a confidence value. The clip itself never leaves your network.

Alert

Only events outside your exclude zones, longer than your minimum duration and in a class you chose reach you, by email, webhook or Slack.

Two practical consequences for a site coming from Camcloud. Upload is small, because only event crops go out rather than continuous video. And a camera whose built in motion detection is badly tuned stops being the limit, because the camera's trigger is not the input. No cloud recording

We keep events and their crops, not continuous video. If your only copy of the footage is on an NVR in the building, a theft of that NVR takes it, and Camcloud protects against exactly that.
No live view or playback

Camcloud gives you live video and a timeline in its apps. Here you get the event list and the crops, and you open the footage in the recorder you already have.
No license plate recognition

Camcloud offers LPR as a separate feature. We classify a vehicle as a vehicle and stop there.
No professional monitoring option

Camcloud offers remote video monitoring with agents as an add-on. We send alerts to your people, your webhook or your Slack, not to a monitoring center.

Does Camcloud have AI detection?

Yes, as a paid add-on called Cloud AI, priced through Camcloud sales. It classifies the motion events your camera detects into labels such as person, vehicle and animal, hides labels under 70 percent confidence, and is rate limited to 5,000 events per camera per day. Because it starts from the camera's own motion trigger, camera motion tuning still matters.

Does Camcloud work with any IP camera?

Camcloud supports plug and play setup for brands including Axis, Hanwha, Hikvision, Amcrest, Milesight, Speco and Vivotek, and adds most other H.264 or H.265 cameras as generic devices using the RTSP URL. ONVIF discovery works only on cameras that follow the standard properly, so check its supported cameras database before you buy.

How much bandwidth does Camcloud use?

Camcloud suggests budgeting about 1 Mbps of upload per camera, adjustable by lowering resolution. A fifteen camera site therefore needs roughly 15 Mbps of sustained upstream for cloud recording. A detection only product that sends event crops rather than video uses a small fraction of that, but it also stores no footage off site.

Is Camcloud good for business?

Camcloud is a solid fit for a small business that has no on site recorder and wants footage stored off site at a published per camera price. It is a weaker fit for a site that already records locally and mainly wants accurate person and vehicle alerts, because that buyer pays for cloud storage and a quoted AI add-on to fix one problem.
