Pelco VideoXpert license price per camera after VideoXpert end of life and the Unity Video exchange

Pelco still prices VideoXpert per camera channel, but it no longer sells it new. A VideoXpert Professional channel license, VXP-1C, lists at $79.10 at a US reseller and an Enterprise camera license at $114.95, yet both editions are discontinued and support has ended. The number that matters now is the free license exchange to Avigilon Unity Video, open to sites with an active upgrade plan until December 31, 2026.

01 The short answer

Three facts decide what a VideoXpert site should spend money on this year.

Pelco calls the change a move to a device-forward, VMS-agnostic business. In practice it means Pelco now sells cameras, not the software that records them.

VideoXpert is finished

Professional and Enterprise

Both product pages say Discontinued. Professional support and updates ended March 29, 2026 and Enterprise ended August 31, 2026. Version 3.29 is the last release of each.

Licenses still exist

Leftover reseller stock

Channel licenses and upgrade plans are still listed by some US stores. They extend a system that gets no more fixes, so buy one only to add a camera to a site you are keeping for now.

Free until December 31, 2026

Sites with an active VideoXpert Software Upgrade Plan can move their licenses to Avigilon Unity Video at no license cost. Pelco names no other successor.

At this store the four and eight channel packs cost more per channel than the single license, and only the sixteen pack comes in under it. Search snippets from other US sellers show VXP-1C from about $60 to $148, so the spread between stores is wider than the spread between part numbers. Pelco's own specification aims Professional at sites of up to 100 cameras, recording up to 450 Mbps per server, with ONVIF support for third party cameras.

The upgrade plan line deserves the most attention. Without an active plan a VideoXpert system keeps running on its current version, which no longer matters because there are no new versions. What it does still matter for is the Unity Video exchange. A UK distributor reports that upgrade plans stopped selling there on March 28, 2026, while a US store still lists VXP-SUP-1Y at $19, so ask your dealer whether Pelco will still activate one before you pay for it.

Will Pelco still activate a new channel license or plan?

What will the Unity Video exchange cost in hardware and labor?

Professional ships with four trial licenses and one year of upgrades. Pelco's specification does not state how long the trial runs.

03 VideoXpert Enterprise price

VideoXpert Enterprise adds server software licenses on top of every camera.

Enterprise scales to 4,000 cameras on one Core, or 7,000 with a 10Gb kit, which is why it ended up in campus, transit and city control rooms. Channel expansion licenses stopped selling on August 31, 2026, the same day support ended, so the Enterprise prices above are listings with no new license behind them. For an Enterprise site the only live decision is the migration.

Person and vehicle alerts on 15 cameras while the recorder keeps recording

The rows are not the same purchase. Buying VideoXpert licenses today extends a system with no security fixes ahead of it, which a school or city IT team will flag. The exchange row is the cheapest supported path for anyone whose upgrade plan is still active. Our row is there for a different reason: a site that is staying on VideoXpert through a budget cycle, or moving to Unity next year, and needs the motion alerts to stop crying wolf in the meantime. Per camera totals for other recorders are on the Video Insight license price, Senstar Symphony license price and Salient CompleteView license price pages.

05 What to do with a VideoXpert site

Four paths off VideoXpert, ranked by what they cost in the next twelve months.

Path 1

Exchange to Unity Video

Free license exchange under an active upgrade plan, until December 31, 2026. Since version 3.28 the VX Playback Bridge lets Unity Video 8 play back recorded VideoXpert video and exports, so the archive is not stranded. Budget for server work and Unity support.

Path 2

Stay on 3.29 for now

The system keeps recording. Isolate it on its own network, keep Windows patched and plan the move inside a year. Add licenses only if a camera has to be added before then.

Path 3

Move to another VMS

Pelco cameras speak ONVIF, so any open platform records them. Compare per camera totals on our video management software page before you ask for quotes.

Path 4

Fix alerts separately

Whichever recorder you end on, a detection layer that reads the camera streams gives person and vehicle alerts without waiting for the migration to finish.

The open platform comparison is on the video management software price comparison, and the person detection camera software page shows the alerts on cameras you already own.

06 Where a VMS wins

Four things a VMS like VideoXpert or Unity does that this product does not.

  • It records and stores

Continuous full resolution video on your own servers. We keep events and their crops, not continuous video.

  • Control room operation

Video walls, PTZ joysticks and operator workflows in Ops Center. We send alerts by email, webhook and Slack.

  • It runs without internet

Recording and playback run on site. Our classification runs as a service, so the site needs an outbound connection.

  • Thousands of cameras

Enterprise scaled to 4,000 cameras on one Core. Our largest plan covers 120 cameras.

07 What buyers ask at this point

Pelco VideoXpert questions that come up while you are pricing it.

01

How much is a Pelco VideoXpert license?

At Surveillance-Video.com, a US reseller, a VideoXpert Professional channel license (VXP-1C, with one year of upgrades) is $79.10 and VXP-1C-3Y is $109.95. An Enterprise camera license (E1-1C) is $114.95. Licenses are perpetual and per camera, but both editions are discontinued.

02

Is Pelco VideoXpert discontinued?

Yes. Pelco lists VideoXpert Professional and Enterprise as discontinued. Professional support and software updates ended March 29, 2026, and Enterprise ended August 31, 2026. Version 3.29, released March 26, 2026, is the last release of both.

03

What replaces Pelco VideoXpert?

Pelco names Avigilon Unity Video, also owned by Motorola Solutions. Sites with an active VideoXpert Software Upgrade Plan can exchange their licenses for Unity Video for free until December 31, 2026. Pelco itself now sells cameras only.

04

Can Unity Video play back old VideoXpert recordings?

Yes, through the VX Playback Bridge. Since VideoXpert 3.28, Unity Video 8 can play back recorded VideoXpert video and VideoXpert exports, so the archive stays reachable after the move.

05

What is a VideoXpert SUP?

The Software Upgrade Plan, sold per channel for one or three years. It entitled the site to new versions and is now the gate to the free Unity Video exchange. A US store lists VXP-SUP-1Y at $19 and VXP-SUP-3Y at $47.50 per channel.

06

Does VideoXpert have person and vehicle detection?

It shows classification from Pelco cameras with analytics, and a deep learning people and vehicle license was sold per camera at $168.91. On third party cameras it relies on their motion. A detection layer such as MotionDetection adds person and vehicle alerts to any camera stream.

Moving off VideoXpert takes months. Better alerts take minutes.
