Axis cloud storage price per camera for AXIS Camera Station Cloud Storage and what it does not do

One license is $99 to $103 per camera a year for 30 days at 720p. What 1080p and longer retention cost, the version 6.18 limit on Camera Station Pro, and what cloud storage does not do for alerts.

AXIS Camera Station Cloud Storage costs $99 to $103.36 per camera per year at US resellers in September 2026. That is one license, part number 03148-001, which keeps 30 days of continuous 720p video in the cloud for one camera sensor for one year. Longer retention or 1080p takes more licenses per camera, so a 1080p camera kept for 30 days costs about $198 a year.

Axis publishes the licensing rule but not the price, and the rule is what sets the bill. The figures below come from Axis's product page and user manual for AXIS Camera Station Cloud Storage, the Axis notice about version 6.19 of AXIS Camera Station Pro, and two US reseller listings. We sell person and vehicle detection for cameras a business already records, so the last sections say plainly where cloud storage is the right buy and where it solves a different problem than the one you have.

Axis cloud storage cost per camera

Axis sells one kind of license. Each one gives a single video source (one sensor) 30 days of retention at 720p for one year, recording continuously at 15 frames per second by default. You stack licenses on a camera to go further: Axis's own examples are two licenses for 60 days at 720p and four licenses for 60 days at 1080p, so 1080p costs twice what 720p does at the same retention.

The $99 figure is networkcamerastore.com's price for 03148-001 and $103.36 is surveillance-video.com's, both checked by us. There is only a one year part number, so there is no multi year discount to negotiate on the license itself. Axis also has a license calculator on its site, which is worth running if your cameras mix resolutions or you keep some views longer than others. A multisensor camera counts each sensor as a video source, so a four sensor camera at 30 days and 720p is four licenses, about $400 a year.

Frame rate is adjustable to 5, 10 or 15 frames per second to save bandwidth, and Axis Zipstream compresses the upload. Video is encrypted and stored in Wasabi S3 data centers, with a choice of region. The United States is one of six regions, next to Canada, the EU, the UK, Japan and Australia.

What has to be true before you buy

  • An Axis recording platform. Cloud Storage is an add on to AXIS Camera Station Pro or AXIS Camera Station Edge. It is not a standalone cloud VMS, and it does not replace the recorder.
  • Camera firmware AXIS OS 11.11.73 or later. Older Axis cameras that cannot take that firmware are out.
  • AXIS License Manager on non Axis servers. If AXIS Camera Station Pro runs on your own Windows server or a virtual machine rather than an Axis recorder, Axis requires AXIS License Manager for Cloud Storage.
  • Internet access and DNS on the recording side, and enough upload for continuous video from every licensed camera, all day.
  • Camera Station licensing already in place. Cloud Storage sits on top of the per device license. Our breakdown of Axis Camera Station license cost prices the Core and Universal licenses you need first.

Because each license is a yearly subscription, fifteen cameras mean a renewal that arrives every year for as long as you want the off site copy. Teams that already keep software renewals in a contract management system should log the Axis renewal date there too, since a lapsed cloud storage license is the kind of thing nobody notices until someone needs the footage.

The AXIS Camera Station Pro 6.19 problem

This is the part to read before a purchase order. Axis's Cloud Storage manual says the service is supported on AXIS Camera Station Pro version 6.18 and earlier, and that upgrading beyond 6.18 stops the service and loses the data stored in the cloud. Axis's separate notice about version 6.19 lists Cloud Storage, multi server viewing and multi server Smart Search as having known issues, and recommends that sites using them stay on 6.18 until support is restored. It also says that if you upgrade anyway, the cloud settings freeze and cannot be changed, while video keeps uploading and stays reachable in the cloud web interface.

The two documents do not describe the same outcome, and Axis gives no date for a fix. Axis says 6.18 keeps getting security updates in the meantime. AXIS Camera Station Edge has no version limit for Cloud Storage. In practice, a Pro site buying Cloud Storage in 2026 is also deciding to hold its server on 6.18 for an open ended period, and anyone still on AXIS Camera Station 5 has its own clock to watch: our note on the AXIS Camera Station 5 to Pro upgrade cost covers the September 30, 2027 end of support.

Classified person and vehicle alerts on 15 cameras, 30 day event history. No video copy.

The first and last rows cost almost the same and buy different things. Cloud storage protects footage after something happened: the recorder is stolen, the drive dies, the building floods. It does not tell anyone that something is happening. If the reason you are pricing cloud storage is compliance or insurance, buy the licenses and skip the rest of this section.

What cloud storage does not do

AXIS Camera Station Cloud Storage records continuously. It adds no detection, no classification and no alerts, so the motion alerts you get from Camera Station today stay exactly as noisy after you buy it. On newer Axis cameras with AXIS Object Analytics, person and vehicle detection already runs on the camera at no extra cost. On older Axis cameras and on third party cameras under a Universal license, it does not, and that is where most false alert complaints come from.

For those cameras the fix is detection on the stream Camera Station already pulls. MotionDetection reads each camera's sub stream over RTSP or ONVIF, finds real motion, labels every event person, vehicle, animal or package, and alerts only on the classes you pick, by email, webhook or Slack. Camera Station keeps recording, nothing on the cameras changes, and no continuous video leaves your network. You can run the demo on a clip before you create an account, and the person detection camera software page explains how classes and zones are set. Every tier is on the video analytics software price page. If you are weighing a bigger move to a cloud platform for existing cameras, our Hanwha OnCloud pricing breakdown prices one of the common options per camera.

Questions buyers ask

How much does Axis cloud storage cost?

One AXIS Camera Station Cloud Storage license, part number 03148-001, costs $99 to $103.36 at US resellers. It covers one camera sensor for one year with 30 days of continuous 720p retention. Sixty days or 1080p takes two licenses per camera, and 60 days at 1080p takes four.

Does AXIS Camera Station Pro have cloud storage?

Yes, as a paid add on called AXIS Camera Station Cloud Storage, licensed per camera per year. Axis says it is supported on AXIS Camera Station Pro 6.18 and earlier, and lists known issues with it in version 6.19, so Pro sites using it are told to stay on 6.18 until support returns. AXIS Camera Station Edge is supported with no version limit.

Is Axis cloud storage continuous or event based?

Continuous. Each license keeps 30 days of continuous recording per sensor at 720p, at 15 frames per second by default, adjustable to 5 or 10 to save bandwidth. It does not add motion classification or alerts, so what triggers an alert is still decided by the camera and by AXIS Camera Station.

Where is Axis cloud storage video stored?

In Wasabi S3 data centers, encrypted, in a region you choose. Axis lists six regions: the United States, Canada, the EU, the UK, Japan and Australia. Access is through the AXIS Camera Station web client with a password and two factor authentication.

Is there a cheaper way to stop false alerts on Axis cameras?

Cloud storage does not change alerts at all. If false motion alerts are the problem, newer Axis cameras can run AXIS Object Analytics for free, and older or third party cameras can use a detection layer on the RTSP stream. MotionDetection does this from $49 a month for four cameras, or $888 a year for fifteen.
