Genetec Stratocast pricing, the last Stratocast price per camera and what Security Center SaaS costs now
Stratocast was $11.95 to $29.95 a camera a month on Genetec's last list, with 7 days of cloud retention. It is gone from the 2025 price lists; Security Center SaaS is $149 or $199 a camera a year plus storage.

Genetec Stratocast was priced per camera per month. On Genetec's last published US list, Basic (720p) was $11.95 a camera a month, Standard (1080p at 600 kbps) $17.95, Premium (1080p at 1,200 kbps) $29.95 and Edge, which records to the camera's SD card or a NAS instead of the cloud, $6.95. Every cloud plan included 7 days of retention. Stratocast is no longer on Genetec's 2025 US price lists; its replacement, Security Center SaaS, costs $149 or $199 per camera a year.
Stratocast never had a public price page, which is why the number is hard to find. The figures below come from a Genetec discount catalog filed with a US public purchasing cooperative in 2023, Genetec's own US price lists from 2022 and 2025, the Stratocast integrator documentation, and Genetec's current Security Center SaaS pricing page. We sell person and vehicle detection for cameras a business already owns, so the last sections say plainly where a Genetec subscription is the right buy and where you are paying for more platform than your problem needs.
The last Stratocast price list
Stratocast plans were set per camera by resolution, bitrate and frame rate, and every cloud plan came with 7 days of cloud retention. These are Genetec's list prices in US dollars, unchanged in its price files from late 2021 through the 2023 catalog. Integrators could discount them.

Retention past 7 days was sold by the day, per camera: $0.15 a month per extra day on Basic, $0.30 on Standard and $0.60 on Premium. So a Standard camera kept for 30 days instead of 7 added 23 days at $0.30, or $6.90 a month, for a total of $24.85. Extra users were $4.95 a month each. Video encoders were billed per input, and unused inputs were charged at the highest plan used on that encoder.
The subscription rules matter as much as the rates. Plans were monthly or yearly, renewed automatically, were paid up front and carried no credit or refund for early cancellation. Genetec invoiced the integrator, not the end customer, and only Genetec certified partners could resell it. Cameras connected straight to Genetec's cloud with no recorder on site, from Axis, Bosch, Hanwha, i-PRO, Mobotix and Vivotek among others, and local recording used the camera's memory card or a certified NAS with up to 16 cameras each.
Is Stratocast still sold
Not as a new purchase, as far as the paperwork shows. Stratocast has its own sheet on Genetec's March 2022 US price list and its own section in the 2023 catalog. The Genetec price lists dated March and April 2025 have no Stratocast sheet and no Stratocast camera part numbers, and carry a Security Center SaaS sheet instead. Genetec announced Security Center SaaS as generally available in April 2024, and the old Stratocast product address on genetec.com now opens the Security Center SaaS page.
We found no public end of sale notice with a date, so ask your integrator two direct questions before you sign anything: when your current Stratocast term renews, and what the migration quote to Security Center SaaS looks like per camera. Existing Stratocast accounts still have their documentation and support portal.
What Security Center SaaS costs per camera
Security Center SaaS is priced per connection per year, and a camera is one connection. Genetec publishes the rates on its pricing page, and its 2025 US price list adds the cloud storage and appliance parts.

Genetec's pricing page says Standard and Premium parts cannot be mixed in one system, that hardware is sold separately, and that pricing can change without notice, so treat these as list prices a partner quotes from. The big difference from Stratocast is scope. Security Center SaaS is Genetec's full platform as a service, with access control, intrusion and intercom connections at similar per connection rates, and it includes object detection and natural language video search in both tiers. For a site that only had cameras on Stratocast, that is more product and a higher floor per camera.

The Security Center SaaS rows assume one 1TB Cloudlink is enough for fifteen cameras, which depends on resolution and retention; the 8TB unit at $3,515 is the safer quote for 30 days of continuous 1080p. The honest reading: if you need a cloud platform that records, runs access control and gives an investigator search across sites, Security Center SaaS is a serious product at a published price, and we do not replace it. If a recorder on site already keeps the footage and you were only on Stratocast, or only looking at it, to get remote alerts, you are about to pay for a platform to fix one feature.
Genetec is sold through certified partners only, so most buyers end up collecting two or three quotes. If you are lining those up, it helps to book the partner walkthroughs on one calendar in the same week, so the quotes are built on the same camera count and the same retention.
If the reason you are shopping is alerts
Stratocast's own detection was the camera's motion detection: it recorded from 5 seconds before to 30 seconds after the camera saw motion, and pushed notifications on those events. Shadows, rain, insects and headlights all trigger that. Security Center SaaS fixes the classification part, at $149 a camera a year before storage or an appliance.
A narrower fix is to classify the motion on the stream the recorder already pulls. MotionDetection reads each camera's RTSP sub stream, finds regions that really moved, labels every event person, vehicle, animal, package or other motion, and alerts only on the classes and zones you pick, by email, webhook or Slack. Continuous video never leaves your network. You can run the demo on a clip before you create an account, and every tier is on the video analytics software price page. If you are comparing other cloud platforms for existing cameras, our Videoloft pricing per camera page and the Verkada Command Connector pricing breakdown total them per camera the same way, and the video management software guide compares the recording platforms themselves.
Questions buyers ask
How much does Genetec Stratocast cost?
On Genetec's last published US list, Stratocast Basic cost $11.95 a camera a month, Standard $17.95, Premium $29.95 and Edge $6.95, or $131.45, $197.45, $329.45 and $76.45 a year. Cloud plans included 7 days of retention, with extra days sold per camera. Integrators set the final price and could discount from these list rates.
Is Genetec Stratocast discontinued?
Stratocast is missing from Genetec's March and April 2025 US price lists, which carry Security Center SaaS instead, and the Stratocast product address on genetec.com now opens the Security Center SaaS page. We found no dated public end of sale notice. Existing accounts still have documentation and support, so ask your integrator about the renewal date and a migration quote.
How much is Genetec Security Center SaaS per camera?
Genetec lists Security Center SaaS video connections at $149 per camera a year on Standard and $199 on Premium, with 3 and 5 year terms at $419 and $679 for Standard. Cloud storage is extra, from $55 to $95 a camera a year for 7 days and $149 for 30 days at 2MP, and Cloudlink appliances for local storage start at $1,395.
Does Stratocast have person detection?
Stratocast recorded and alerted on the camera's own motion detection, from 5 seconds before to 30 seconds after an event. We found no priced person or vehicle detection add-on for it. Axis camera analytics could be used through federation with Security Center. Security Center SaaS includes object detection in both of its tiers.
Is there a cheaper way to get person alerts on existing cameras?
Yes, if a recorder already keeps the video. A detection layer reads the RTSP sub stream the recorder pulls and labels each real motion event as a person, vehicle, animal or package before alerting. MotionDetection does this from $49 a month for four cameras, or $888 a year for fifteen, with no appliance and no cloud archive.
